Current Crime Trends:Following a recent increase in Distraction Theft type offences, particularly in restaurant and pub premises, City of London Police ask that visitors to these areas take particular care of their personal possessions and to immediately report any suspicious behaviour. Operating as a team, sometimes including children and often with poor command of the English language, the offenders target mobile telephones and bags, using various techniques to remove the items which include distracting the victim with the contents of a clipboard or by placing a newspaper or similar over an article before removing it.
