The Operations Team works closely with the ward constables in responding to the concerns of the community. As part of the City of London Police's commitment to the nationwide concept of 'neighbourhood policing', a ward panel meeting is held quarterly with representatives from both the business and residential communities.

The panel make decisions as to which local problems should be tackled by the police over the next quarter. The Wards Policing Operations Team is allocated these problems to analyse, and they then work together with the ward officers, the Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership and many other external partners, in order to find an effective solution to the problem. The team may call on officers from all departments within the force, to assist them in achieving the objectives of their operations, and thereby ensuring a successful response to community  concerns.

Please contact the Crime Reduction team for information on any areas of crime reduction, ie burglary (both residential and business), personal safety, business security, retail security, vehicle crime, licensed premises, and any other community based crime reduction advice.

The Cycle Patrol team's primary function is to provide a high visibility, fast response unit. The team falls under the umbrella of the Wards Policing Operations Team, allowing officers to be tasked directly to deal with any problems highlighted by the business and residential community.

Apart from the initial cycle training, cycle patrol officers have a number of skills. All officers are trained to use a defibrillator as well as receive basic first aid training. On each shift the team are deployed with a body worn surveillance camera, defibrillator, cordon tape and first aid kits in the event of a major incident.

The City of London Police Cycle Patrol Team has been one of the leading forces in cycle training and equipment. They have assisted in setting up cycle teams for other forces and provided basic cycle training and advice to members of the public.
