an irregular shaped ward which nestles in the very heart of the
City of London. Its boundaries consist of Warwick Lane / Ave Maria
Lane and St Andrews Hill in the East, Newgate Street in the North,
St Andrews Hill, St Bride Street and New Bridge Street in the West,
and Queen Victoria Street to the South.
Farringdon Within Ward (North) is dominated by St Bartholomew's
Hospital. This site is undergoing major redevelopment which will
continue for several years. There are two homeless projects on the
ward, and small clusters of residential units. Major financial
businesses include Nomura and Merrill Lynch. Social services and a
doctor's surgery can be found in Half Moon Court.
Farringdon Within (South) is primarily a business and retail
area, and is dominated by iconic sites such as the Central Criminal
Court in Old Bailey, which always attracts many tourists and media
alike. Other key areas on the ward are the main thoroughfares of
Ludgate Hill and New Bridge Street, which are thriving cosmopolitan
areas with many major financial businesses and well known retail
stores. All of these premises sit hand in glove with restaurants,
coffee shops, pubs and wine bars, all offering exceptional service
and high quality places of entertainment.

the city, and Farringdon Within ward is currently seeing a major
new office premises being built on New Bridge Street.
All of the wards within the City of London are very ancient
places indeed with stories to tell. Farringdon Within ward is
particularly proud of being home to the Old Bailey (Central
Criminal Court), the most famous court in the United Kingdom. This
has been the site of many of the greatest and most controversial
criminal trials in our country's history.
It is anticipated that when a decision is made about Cross Rail,
this could impact on the ward.
