Overview & brief
history
The ward of Walbrook is centrally located in the Square Mile.
The Bank of England sits to the north whilst the Worshipful Company
of Grocers is situated at the western boundary. It is very much a
high profile ward and is predominantly a business area with a mix
of large organisations and small to medium companies and retailers.
It is home to a number of very prestigious companies, buildings and
establishments, including hosting the official residence of the
Lord Mayor at Mansion House. The centre is the Bank Junction with
the City of London Magistrates Court to the west and Cannon Street
to the south.
The population is largely transient. It has some 180 registered
voters (mostly business). Residentially, the ward is very small,
with approximately only 7 in number (including the Lord Mayor)!
