Child protection orders

If you suspect ill treatment of a child or young person, or if you are being hurt or abused contact us on 020 7332 1224 to speak to a social worker or email social.services@cityoflondon.gov.uk.

Where concern has been expressed about an individual, social workers must look into what is happening and make enquiries to check that the child is safe. We will try to work in partnership with parents and carers and keep them involved in what is happening.

In most situations help and advice can be sufficient to sort out the problems. It is rare for social services to have to consider removing a child from their family to protect them.

The social services department can apply for emergency protection order of 8 to 15 days to safeguard a child who may be in danger living at home.
