'The Future of Asian Financial Centres - Challenges and Opportunities for the City of London' breakfast

On 3 November 2008, the Lord Mayor and Stuart Fraser hosted a breakfast at Mansion House to draw on the Lord Mayor's recent visits to China and the Far East and to mark the publication of the latest in the City Corporation’s series of commissioned research reports.

Entitled The Future of Asian Financial Centres - Challenges and Opportunities for the City of London, the report analyses the challenges and opportunities for UK-based financial services from the leading Asian financial centres of Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo.

'The City of London's Supply Chain and its Relationship with the City Fringes' research launch

On 24 September 2008, Stuart Fraser hosted a seminar to launch the report The City of London's Supply Chain and its Relationship with the City Fringes written by cebr.

Mark Pragnell of cebr presented the key conclusions of the report before a Q&A session took place.

Annual Research Conference

On 22 May 2008, Stuart Fraser, Chairman of the City of London’s Policy and Resources Committee, hosted the annual research conference at the London Stock Exchange.

The conference focussed on the key findings of three research reports recently published by the City of London.

Presentations were made by Alan Wilson of Oxford Economics on The Impact of City Businesses in addressing Social Disadvantage; Mark Tilden of CRA International on The Impact of Taxation on Financial Services Business Location Decisions; and Mark Yeandle of Z/Yen on The Global Financial Centres Index (GFCI) 3.

Annual Research Reception

On 27 February 2008, Michael Snyder hosted the Annual Research Reception in the City Marketing Suite.

The Reception is held to launch the annual Research Review, to thank research associates and suppliers for their contribution to the City’s programme of work and to facilitate networking between the research community and its audience.



‘The Impact of Recent Immigration on the London Economy’ research seminar

On 15 August 2007, Michael Snyder hosted a seminar to discuss the report The Impact of Recent Immigration on the London Economy written by the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Christine Whitehead and Ian Gordon of the London School of Economics and Political Science presented the key conclusions of the report before a Q&A session took place.

‘The Competitive Impact of London's Financial Market Infrastructure’ roundtable

On 7 June 2007, Michael Snyder hosted a high-level roundtable to discuss the report The Competitive Impact of London's Financial Market Infrastructure written by Bourse Consult.
