Education and learning
The City of London is committed to providing a high standard of education and training in ways that improve awareness of business culture amongst students. This commitment extends through primary and secondary education both within the Square Mile as well as in the more deprived boroughs neighbouring the City.

The City of London is a member of the Hackney Education Action Zone, the School Governors' one stop shop and many of the regeneration partnerships in which the City of London is involved, run training courses for specific types of employment and industries. The City Fringe Partnership’s Bridging the Gap Programme provides local unemployed people with a series of courses aimed at developing the key skills necessary to compete effectively in the City and City Fringe labour markets.

The City Academy in Southwark represents a major investment by the City of London in the future business skills of school leavers. The City of London invested £2 million in the project and the Academy has a special curricular emphasis on City related topics such as Business Studies, Economics, Law, Finance and Information Technology.

A number of educational charitable trusts are managed by the City of London which provide funds to individuals to improve the skills of young people.

Matching skills with opportunities
The Brokerage Citylink aims to relieve poverty amongst disadvantaged groups and minorities, such as the unemployed, ethnic populations, and women, within inner London, in particular by providing vocational guidance and training which will enable them to access City and local employment. Over 200 jobseekers a year are being placed into employment through the Brokerage in a variety of fields at a variety of operational and managerial levels.

Electronic services
Through its involvement with the London Central Partnership, part of the London Connects eGovernment project, the City of London has promoted the need for a dedicated site in support of business and employment issues.
