Commercial waste
The City of London has recently launched a new commercial
recycling service. The service which operates on an 'all in one
bin' system allows businesses to show that they are committed to
recycling, but without spending valuable time in the working day
sorting out all the different waste streams into different
bins.
This fast and easy method means you simply put all your
recyclable items in the same container. We provide from a minimum
once weekly to a daily collection service (Mon - Fri) and then we
do all the sorting for you.
It's a recycling solution that makes good sense all round. It's
good for your business because you save time and energy, and its
good for the environment because it cuts down on the use of raw
materials and the amount of waste being sent to landfill.
What you can recycle with us
All of these items can be recycled through this service and they
can all go in the same bin together

Our charges
Our charges include bin hire and collection costs. They are as
follows:
Commercial Recycling Sack
£1.17 plus VAT per bag, sold in batches of 25 (£29.25 plus VAT
per batch)
240 Litre wheel bin
£2.87 plus VAT per collection per bin
Equivalent capacity to three bin bags that would have
otherwise cost you £1.17 plus VAT each for disposal
360 Litre wheel bin
£4.11 plus VAT per collection per bin
Equivalent capacity to five bin bags that would have
otherwise cost you £1.17 plus VAT each for disposal
660 Litre Euro bins
£6.57 plus VAT per collection per bin
Equivalent capacity to 8 bin bags that would have otherwise
cost you £1.17 plus VAT each for disposal
1100 Litre Euro bins
£7.72 plus VAT per collection per bin
Equivalent capacity to 15 bin bags that would have otherwise

Commercial
waste - clinical waste disposal
- Collection and disposal of clinical waste as identified in by
central government in Safe Disposal of Clinical Waste (Health
Services Advisory Committee 1999). This includes items such as
surgical waste, used syringes, drugs and pharmaceuticals.

Commercial
waste - collection
- Provision of a regular commercial trade waste collection from
local businesses. Businesses are required to provide a written
description of their waste and ensure that it is packed in suitable
containers.

Commercial waste -
disposal sites
- Disposal of commercial waste is the responsibility of the
business owner. The local authority may provide sites which
business may use (for a fee) to dispose of their waste. If
available the authority will publish details of the location,
opening times, terms and conditions of use and charges for the use
of the sites.

Commercial waste - skip
services
- Provision of council owned skips available for hire to
residents and local businesses for waste disposal. Skips will be
delivered and collected as part of the hire agreement.

Commercial
waste - special trade collections
- Any waste generated by a commercial organisation is the
responsibility of the organisation to dispose of correctly. Advice
on how to dispose of waste may be given by the council (including
details of local organisations who offer waste collection
services). The council may also provide a service which can arrange
for special collections of large amounts of waste, bulky materials
or confidential waste from commercial premises for a fee.

Commercial
waste - spillage
- Trade waste must be packed in suitable containers so that it
cannot fall out, blow away or escape from the receptacle such that
it could cause pollution or harm to anyone. The local authority
should deal with notifications of spillage of commercial
waste.

Commercial
waste - trade bins
- Provision of bins for the collection of trade waste. Bins are
usually offered in a variety of sizes to suit the requirements of
all local businesses. Charges are determined by the number and size
of bins required.

Hazardous
waste collection
- Collection of waste which is of a hazardous nature and cannot
be disposed of through regular household or business waste
collections. This service is generally available free of charge to
residents but the local authority may charge for commercial
collection.
