The public can also check to see what enforcement action the HSE and Local Authorities have taken against companies or in specific industry sectors.

The HSE maintain two online databases; one for enforcement notices - HSE Notices database – and one for prosecutions it has taken - HSE Prosecutions database.

Additionally under the Environment & Safety Information Act 1988, Local Authorities are required to maintain a Public Register of all health & safety enforcement notices which where served for issues relating to persons other than just employees. Such notices are kept on the register for three years after being served even though remedial action may have already taken place and dealt with the problem.
