Consultation has played a key role in the development of the
City's Community Strategy
The City Together: A Vision for a World Class City,
2004-2014.
The Community Strategy was developed with close regard to the
findings of the "Get Yourself Heard" consultation carried out in
summer 2003 and the findings of the
MORI surveys of City workers, residents and businesses
commissioned by the City of London in early 2003.
A further period of public consultation was carried out between
December 2003 and February 2004. Full copies of the draft Strategy
were available and summaries were circulated widely to businesses,
residents, workers and visitors. This consultation included a
public consultation meeting attended by 120 representatives of
business, residents, workers, visitors and service providers, held
on 5 February 2004. The public consultation period closed on 13
February 2004. Thank you to everyone who took the time to
respond.
Consultation findings have been considered by each theme’s
sub-group. (Each sub-group is made up of various service providers
and community representatives with an interest in the theme.) Both
the draft Strategy (published in December 2003) and the finalised
Strategy (published in May 2004) provide examples of "Key
consultation findings" which clearly shows how we have listened to
your views.

The Community Strategy action plan is reviewed every year and an
annual stakeholder event takes place to ensure the views of the
community feed into this.

Reviewing of the City's Community Strategy in 2007
The City Together is looking to refresh the Community Strategy
2004-2014 to update where we want to focus our efforts over the
coming years. Refreshing the Strategy now will ensure the delivery
of a truly Sustainable Community Strategy for the City of
London.
Stakeholders have been involved through a range of consultation
activity, including the 2007 Annual Stakeholder Event (see above)
and over October and November are invited to give their views via
an online consultation blog at
www.thecitytogether.org.
