Make the Links Make Progress - Overcoming the barriers to work for
former drug users
The London Drug Policy Forum (LDPF) and Centre for Economic and
Social Inclusion (Inclusion) have been at the forefront of
developments in the drugs and employment field over the last few
years. They are both committed to help promote and develop good
practice in the field.
The Conference was a one day event is designed to bring together
practitioners and those responsible for organising services to help
former drug users into employment. It highlighted and helped
disseminate emerging good practice in this field and also
considered how to tackle some of the most commonly identified
barriers to effective intervention namely housing and welfare
benefits issues. The programme for the day included presentations
from a range of Government departments with a direct interest in
this issue, as well as case study presentations from across the
UK.

Availability: The Local
Connection
In 2001 the 10th annual LDPF conference, Availability: The Local

Tackling Alcohol and Drugs in the
Workplace
In February 2001 a highly successful conference, ‘Combating
Drugs and Alcohol in the Workplace’, was held at the Guildhall. As
a result of the LDPF and City of London Drug Action Team, working
with businesses and other key partners, decided to address a need
identified by many employers. What is the scale of substance misuse
in the workplace? How should we respond to this issue and where can
we get unbiased help and advice?
