City RSVP
City RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Programme) is part of a
nationwide network of schemes aimed at encouraging people over 50
to share their skills and experiences by becoming volunteers.
Most of our volunteers are befrienders who give support to City
residents of all ages who are housebound who have become isolated
culturally geographically They serve to enhance the
services provided by the Department of Community and Children's
Services.
City RSVP volunteers also assist in other services, such as
helping children with reading and provide other types of
educational support in Sir John Cass Primary and Nursery
School.
Regular volunteer get-togethers are held to provide support and
training.
We also run two Senior Citizen Groups which are based in the
Golden Lane Community Education Centre on Friday mornings 11.15am
to 12.45pm and the Mansell Street Community Centre on Wednesday
afternoons 1.45 to 3.45pm, where you can join in with a varied
programme of activities.
If you like to find out more about City RSVP please
contact the City RSVP Coordinator on 020 7332 3027 or by
email. You
can also find us and all the other projects nationwide on the
national RSVP
website.
