Youth offending

Crime committed by young people is a serious issue.

The City and Tower Hamlets Youth Offending Team (YOT) have a number of schemes available to young residents in the City of London designed to prevent young people from re-offending. This is done through addressing the causes of criminal behaviour and offering help and support. These schemes include:

  • Action plan orders
  • Preventative services
  • Referral orders
  • Community rehabilitation orders
  • Reparation orders
  • Supervision orders
  • Parenting orders

Visit Tower Hamlets website for further details on the schemes available to young people

Preventative services - young children
The aim of pre-crime prevention scheme is identifying children and young people who are at high risk of offending and helping them to avoid entering the youth justice system.
Youth justice - action plan orders
An action plan order is to prevent a young offender from further offending by working with them to deal with problems which may have led them to get into trouble. It is a sentence of the court, which is supervised by a member of the council Youth Offending Team. The content of the Order will vary for each young person
