The City's Young Person's Advice and Assistance Panel (YPAAP)
has been set up as part of the City of London Crime and Disorder
Reduction Partnership's crime and disorder strategy. Its aim
is to help prevent young people (age eight to 25) from
becoming involved in anti-social behaviour and breaking the
law.
The YPAAP offers voluntary support services for children,
young people, and their families. It is a multi-agency group
made up of the following:
- The Children's Services Team (City of London)

- City of London Police
- Connexions
- Drug Action Team
- Education Welfare (City of London)
- Housing (City of London)
- The Youth Service (City of London)

What is the YPAAP?
A panel of specialists from organisations such as education and
the youth service whose purpose is to provide and assist young
people who may need additional guidance. For example you may be
concerned that a young person is underachieving or lost interest in
school, or that they have become involved in anti-social behaviour
and breaking the law.
How can YPAAP help?
By offering support and assistance for young people and their
families at an early stage, to reduce the possibility of them
becoming involved in crime and anti-social behaviour and by
assisting them to achieve their full potential.
- By ensuring that young people and their families receive the
services they need from mainstream public bodies and agencies.
- Ensuring that appropriate advice and help is given to the young
person to access further education, training and employment.
- Provide a package of support for the young person and
family.
How do I contact the YPAAP?
If you are a parent or carer, or a professional working with
young people such as a teacher, youth club worker or police
officer, then you can make a referral to the panel. The young
person must be between the ages of 8 to 25 years old and a resident
of the City.
To make a referral you must seek to gain consent or agreement
from the young person and their parent or carer, that you are
seeking assistance from the YPAAP and all those involved including
the young person, will then receive advice in relation to how we
can help.
For more information about how the YPAAP can help, contact the
Children and Families Service Manager on 020 7332 1215.
