Aldermanic vacancy - Ward of Dowgate

There is currently a vacancy of an Alderman in the Ward of Dowgate due to the resignation of Alderman Gowman, following the completion of a six year term, who intends to seek re-election.  During the notice of vacancy period the Town Clerk received notification from someone who is not a Justice of the Peace on the City Bench and so the potential candidate must now apply to the Lord Chancellor's Advisory Committee to seek approval to be appointed as a JP, as this is a qualification to stand in an Aldermanic election.  The date of the election will be set when notification is received by the Town Clerk from the Lord Chancellor's Advisory Committee.
