Annual wardmotes

Ordinary elections only take place every four years now, with the next ones being in March 2009. However, annual wardmotes, that is to say, annual ward meetings, are still taking place to allow constituents to meet their elected representatives. The main purpose of the meeting is an opportunity to raise any concerns and ask any questions of the Alderman and the Common Councilmen. There are, in addition, a couple of brief formal items to attend to which are concerned with appointing ward officers and an element of City tradition to observe in the way that the meeting is ceremonially opened and closed.

The next annual wardmotes will take place in March 2008 and most (but not all) are being held on Friday 14 March at 12.00 noon. All electors on the ward lists will be sent an invitation in February or you can find out the date, time and venue from the timetable below.
