Adult residents and those working in the City can benefit from
adult education courses and advice, and careers guidance. For
younger people,
Sir John Cass's Foundation Primary School takes pupils aged
from 3-11 years, whilst the
Youth and Play Service offers many stimulating
opportunities across a range of activities.

Secondary Schools
As there are no secondary school within the City, children
normally go to neighbouring boroughs' for their secondary

The
City of London Academy Southwark,
City of London Academy Islington and
City Academy Hackney are fully-inclusive, all-ability
school with an independent status. The Academies aim to be a centre
of excellence providing a modern, high quality education for

Independent schools
Distinct from its Local Authority role, the City of London runs
three
independent schools - City of London School,
City of London
School for Girls and City of London Freemen's School, all of which
regularly deliver excellent results.
The City of London also runs the prestigious
Guildhall School
of Music and Drama internationally recognised as a centre of
excellence.

Integrated working
Improving outcomes for children and young people, so that every
child achieves their potential, involves changes to culture and
practice across the children's workforce. These new ways of working
shift the focus from dealing with the consequences of difficulties
in children's lives to early intervention and effective prevention.

grant making criteria, but with the common aim of promoting the
advancement of education.
