As well as operating to the District Surveyors Association Level of Service document and the Building Control Performance Standards set by central government, we go much further with a registered Quality Management System.

We carry out regular customer surveys to assess our performance in meeting client needs as well as striving to improve our level of service. Each survey is targeted at a particular sector of our customer base to ensure that all areas are considered.

Listed below are some of the ways in which we work to ensure you experience the best possible service.

Guidance Notes  - four Guidance Notes are available to assist applicants making applications for Building Regulations approval. The notes are obtainable from the District Surveyor's Office, telephone: 020 7332 1000, or they can be downloaded.

 A single point of contact - a dedicated Project Surveyor operating within a multi-disciplinary team and a defined geographical area.

Our highly experienced staff hold professional qualifications in Building Control, Structural, Civil and Fire Engineering, Surveying and Building Services.

Specialist surveyors in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and Drainage services support the Project Surveyor.

Pre-application advice is freely available to allow the project team to discuss their proposals and to advance with confidence.

Close proximity - our office is within 20 minutes walking distance of all sites.

Application made easier by online submission of forms and payment.

Site visits at short notice either by the Project Surveyor or another member of the team. A system of regular site visits as construction proceeds, ensuring that any problem areas are identified resulting in a quicker and less costly remedy.

Full in house facilities offering privacy for meetings to discuss and develop proposals for schemes both before and during construction. All within close proximity of your site.

Out of hours consultations and site inspections can be accommodated by prior arrangement, where circumstances dictate.

Close working relationship with London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority (Fire Brigade). We present the scheme to them for their consideration under the Fire Precautions Act and agree areas of fire strategy that will satisfy both sets of requirements.

Contact by letter, phone, fax and email as well as in person. All staff have mobile phones and direct dial extensions with an automatic backup referral system to the administration office where messages and requests may be left for subsequent prompt action.

We have extensive experience of all matters relating to building control within the unique environment of the City of London. Local knowledge has been gathered over many years and records maintained of both buildings and ground conditions.

Quality Management Systems dealing with deadlines, record keeping, response times and customer care certified to BS EN ISO 9001:2000.

Membership of various related BSI Committees by individual staff members ensures that we are at the forefront of current thinking.

A Completion Certificate is issued at the end of the job to verify compliance with Building Regulations.

A flexible approach to fees set by our own charges scheme.

Customer charter - we have produced a customer charter which demonstrates our dedication to maintaining the above standards to provide you with a quality building control service.

Partnership

We are part of the national partnership scheme for local authority building control (LABC). This allows us to offer a plans approval service to you for developments that you intend to construct anywhere in England and Wales. You will achieve consistency of interpretation by forming a partnership with us that will be enhanced by the allocation of your business to one of our multi-disciplinary teams. The site inspections, of the previously agreed details, will be carried out by the local authority in whose area the work is situated.
