Green Flag Award

Green Flag logoFor the fifth year running Epping Forest has been awarded a Green Flag Award. The Award recognises the high standards achieved in managing an open space for people to enjoy. Receipt of this award reflects the judges’ view that the Forest is well-managed and provides a high quality open space experience for its visitors.

Green Heritage Site accreditationGreen Heritage Site

For the fourth year Epping Forest has also received Green Heritage Site accreditation. The scheme is sponsored by English Heritage and promotes the care and upkeep of parks and green spaces in England that are of historical interest. Epping Forest has been also been awarded Investors in People status.  

Green Apple Award

The Green Apple Award for Best Environmental Practice Silver Prize was awarded to our oral history project ‘Echoes of Epping Forest’. The Green Apple Awards celebrate good environmental practice by companies, councils, communities and countries and are organised by The Green Organisation in association with the Environment Agency and the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health. The book ‘Echoes of Epping Forest’ contains recollections of Epping Forest throughout the 20th century, as told by a wide range of local people. The book is available for sale from the Epping Forest Visitor Centre or the Queen Elizabeth’s Hunting Lodge at £3.95.
