Nature of the City

Nature of the City coverThe City of London Open Spaces have produced a new document 'Nature of the City'.

Nature of the City brings together all the open spaces owned and managed by the City of London, both within London and also in the surrounding counties of Buckinghamshire, Essex, Kent and Surrey. It describes common themes in terms of important habitats such as veteran trees; semi-natural ancient woodland; scrub; grassland; heathland; lowland wood-pasture and parkland; hedgerows; lakes, ponds and streams, and current management such as grazing. There is also information on monitoring, education, interpretation and how our work fits into the wider picture of nature conservation. Nature of the City is the result of a collaborative project by the 'Biodiversity Working Group': ecology staff from all of the City of London's open spaces.
