Get swimming
The Hampstead Heath swimming summer season has begun, with
extended opening hours at the Lido and the opening of the Mixed
Pond. See the
Swimming page.
Cycle safe
A Cycle Safety and Security event will take place at the
Parliament Hill Bandstand from 11am until 2pm on Sunday 13
May. The Hampstead Heath Constabulary, the City of London Road
Safety Team and the City of London Police Cycle Squad will all be
on hand to give advice. 020 8340 5260 for more information.
Diamond Jubilee Festival
Our Diamond Jubilee Festival, in partnership with Barnet
Council, takes place from 3pm to 10pm on Monday 4 June at
Golders Hill Park. Come and help celebrate 60 years of the
Queen on the throne. The event is free and includes live
music, children's entertainment, arts and crafts, sports, community
stalls and culminates with the lighting of the Queen's Diamond
Jubilee Beacon and fireworks. Bring a picnic (no BBQs please) but
refreshments will also be available. The adjacent Ivy
House will be open to the public in the afternoon.
This family fun event kicks off at 2.45pm with the unveiling of
a Diamond Jubilee Weathervane on top of the park bandstand. The
unveiling will be conducted by the Mayor of Barnet, the
Representative Deputy Lieutenant for Barnet and the Chairman of the
Hampstead Heath Management Committee.
Limited parking will be available in the area and visitors
are encouraged where possible to use public transport to reach the
park. It is served by bus routes 210 and 268 and is a short walk
from Golders Green Underground station.
Sports on the Heath Competition Day
To be held on Saturday 26 May at Parliament Hill, Hampstead
Heath.
You are invited to enter teams for:
• Tennis- mixed doubles 12noon - 3pm
• Rugby 7~a~side 12noon - 3pm
• Mixed football 6~a~side 11.30am - 3.pm; final at
3.30pm

return it before 20 May by e-mailing it

We are seeking very good quality photographs of Hampstead Heath
for possible use in the 2013 Hampstead Heath Calendar, all proceeds
of which will go towards the Hampstead Heath Charity.
Have you captured a cracking Heath view or snapped a stunning
Heath landscape? If so and if you are willing to offer it as a
candidate for inclusion, then please email it to
hampstead.heath@cityoflondon.gov.uk
typing ‘Hampstead Heath Calendar candidate’ in the subject bar.
The photographer of any image chosen for inclusion will receive
eight free copies of the finished calendar, a full credit and our
great appreciation.
The photographs should be as close to 300dpi as possible at the
size of the finished calendar, which is slightly larger than A4. If
in doubt, please just send what you have.
The deadline for receipt of candidate photographs is 25
May 2012.
English National Cross Country Championships 2012
The first great national sporting event of the Olympic year
took place at Parliament Hill on Saturday 25 February, as cross
country running returned to its spiritual home. With perfect
weather and a record number of participants - by some margin - this
was a truly great day. All the results are available on the
English Cross Country Association
website.
Water temperature for Hampstead Heath swimmers
Lido: 13°C; Ladies' Pond: 10°C; Men's Pond: 11°C;
Mixed Pond: 11°C as of 10 May 2012.
