Events
Throughout the year Rangers
organise walks, talks and other countryside events. This year
is the 125th anniversary of the City of London acquiring the
four Coulsdon Commons so our annual Countryside Day will take
place on Coulsdon Common to celebrate this. On Sunday 8
June there will be activities and fun for everyone including
donkey rides, horse-drawn cart rides, face painting, tree
climbing and swing boats. You can have a go at some
countryside crafts, like wood turning and walking-stick
making, watch a falconry display or see a blacksmith at
work.

Volunteering
Throughout the year volunteers help
the Keepers to look after the West Wickham & Coulsdon
Commons. There are a huge range of different activities to get
involved with. You may like to learn a rural craft such as
hedgelaying or perhaps you’d like to help install some new
benches? If you enjoy bird watching or know a bit about other
animals or plants you may like to get involved with some
survey work? Whatever you choose you are sure to have a fun
day out looking after you local patch of countryside! To find
out how to get involved:
The City of London has established the Coulsdon Commons Heritage
Group to oversee two Friends groups, Friends of Farthing Downs and
Friends of Kenley Airfield. The groups are keen to enhance the
value of their respective sites to the public, to spread the word
about there special features and to help the City of London protect
them for the future. For more information please contact us.
