Preparation of the Core Strategy has been undertaken with the
benefit of a sustainability appraisal. This is a process for
appraising the social, environmental and economic effects of
policies as they are developed. It incorporates Strategic
Environmental Assessment and Appropriate Assessment required by
European law.

was published in April 2006. This sets out the context and presents
baseline information to provide a starting point for the
appraisal.
