City Action is a free matchmaking service for City-based
companies and community organisations in the City and City fringe
boroughs. Run by the City of London Corporation since 1998, City
Action's free service largely involves brokering volunteer
placements but also includes offering City firms and community
organisations practical advice in developing long-term
partnerships, raising awareness about the need for skills
volunteering in the City fringe through community tours and
networking events, and helping to capacity grow community
organisations through corporate volunteering.
Based in the Corporate Responsibility team, The City Action
Account Managers support City businesses looking to establish or
further develop community programmes, including brokering long term
partnerships with local community organisations. The team
identifies the type of community involvement best suited to each
company’s culture, business strategy and available resources.
Guidance and training is offered to community organisations new to
corporate volunteering, as well as those seeking to maximise
existing relationships and evaluate their impact.
