Cross River Partnership

Cross River Partnership logoCross River Partnership (CRP) has been working since 1995 to expand the heart of central London and to extend the benefits of regeneration in central London south of the River. CRP has 14 partners from the public, private and voluntary sectors including the City of London, City of Westminster and the London boroughs of Lambeth and Southwark.

The Partnership secured funding from Rounds 1-3, 5 and 6 of the Government’s Single Regeneration Budget (SRB), and the London Development Agency’s Single Programme. SRB funding ceased at
the end of March 2007, but project activities continue to be funded from a range of sources, including Transport for London, Local Implementation Plan, European Regional Development Fund, Neighbourhood Renewal Fund and the Private Sector.

Cross River Partnership’s current programmes focus on the following cross-cutting themes:

  • Regeneration: Bridging the gap between deprivation and prosperity in central London, CRP’s regeneration programme focuses on physical improvements, enhancement of accessibility to jobs and support for local enterprise. CRP’s key regeneration project, Light at the End of the Tunnel, is regenerating 10km of neglected railway viaduct and the public space around them making the surrounding area safer and more accessible. It is also helping to unleash the investment potential of the adjoining arches encouraging businesses to use them as commercial space
  • Economic Development and Enterprise: CRP works with a large number of small and medium sized enterprises to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship, proving general business support. CRP's Economic Development programme enables residents to enter sustainable employment in several industry sectors, the programme strengthens the quality and capacity of small businesses and facilitates the growth of local partnerships between businesses, voluntary organisations and residential communities.
  • Transport: Through its Transport and Access programme, CRP aims to bring London ’s communities closer, improve access to jobs, healthcare and education and enhance the public realm. The Cross River Tram is CRP’s strategic transport intervention. As well as having a key role to play in the development stages necessary for the physical construction of the Tram, CRP is also leading on a series of projects designed to enhance the physical, economic and social benefits of this project.
