City of London Business Traineeship Scheme

Introduced in 1994/95, the City of London Business Traineeship Scheme seeks to establish contacts between the City and the neighbouring boroughs in a pro-active and productive way. The scheme acts as a brokerage, bringing together school and college leavers with an interest in City employment (including finance, ICT, insurance and administration) with City firms seeking the services of school and college leavers.

The scheme works with schools, colleges and City firms to identify mutually beneficial short-term work placements for participants, with the aim of encouraging them to seek employment in the City in future. The scheme is currently delivered on behalf of the City of London by the Brokerage Citylink.
