Health and medical advice

Counselling: The provision of information on the availability and requirements of counselling services for individuals who have been identified as having particular needs to help sort through personal difficulties. These services may not be provided by the local authority.

Health advice: Advice and information on health issues of concern to individuals and the community. Providing advice on how to live active and healthy lives for all members of the community. The local authority may work with other agencies (health services) and organisations to provide this service.

Support for children with HIV: Social Services and a number of voluntary organisations work with families where a child is HIV positive to deal with any immediate problems, and to help the family plan for the long term care of children.

Vaccinations - information and advice: Information and advice on vaccinations for children and travellers. This is generally provided in conjunction with local health providers.
