The City of London Drug Action Team (DAT) was established in
1999 to coordinate the implementation of the National Drug Strategy
at a local level. In 2002 the Drug Action Team merged with the
Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership.
The City DAT is responsible for the coordination of the
implementation at a local level.
The National Drug Strategy has four main elements:
- Young People - preventing today's young people from becoming
tomorrow's prublematic drug users
- Stifling Availability - reducing the supply of illegal
drugs
- Communities - reducing drug-related crime and its impact on
communities
- Treatment and harm minimisation - reducing drug use and
drug-related offending through treatment and support. Reducing
drug-related death through harm minimisation.
