Adapting homes

If you or someone living with you has a disability and you live in the City of London, we may be able to help you adapt your home so that you can continue to live independently.

If you are disabled there may be physical barriers that make it difficult for you to carry out day to day activities. An adaptation may enable you to move around your home and access its facilities more easily. It may also make it easier for your carers to look after you.

Typical adaptations include:

  • Stair lifts and through floor lifts
  • Ramps, rails and step lifts
  • Door widening for wheelchair access
  • Adapting kitchens by providing low level units
  • Level access showers and other bathroom alterations
  • Improving heating
