Mais House


Mais House is an attractive modern development bounded in the north by Sydenham Hill and in the south by Kirkdale. It consists of 49 bedsit flats, 11 one-bedroom flats and one two bedroom flat, arranged over three floors served by a lift.  There is a communal lounge and dining room on the ground floor, where residents can enjoy views over the  pond and gardens.

The cleaner keeps the common parts, including the stairs, landing, entrance hall and lobbies clean and tidy at all times.  The estates gardener looks after the attractive communal gardens.

There are parking spaces and garages and these can be rented subject to availability.

Estate office and staff

The Scheme Manager's office is located on the ground floor by the main entrance.  The office is normally open from 8.00am - 4.00pm, Monday to Friday.

Public transport

Mais House is served by a good local bus service. The 363 bus runs south Elephant and Castle to Crystal Palace and north into Central London. The 356 bus runs Forest Hill Shirley via Forest Hill and Sava Centre Lower Sydenham and Bromley (Monday to Saturday). Forest Hill and Sydenham railway stations are approximately 20 minutes walk from the estate providing trains to London Bridge,Victoria and East Croydon stations.

Shops

For day-to-day items Forest Hill is the nearest shopping area, whilst the nearest main shopping centre is in Lewisham. There are also excellent shopping facilities in Lower Sydenham, which is a short bus ride away. In addition, every Wednesday, Lewisham Council runs a special bus service to Catford for residents only.

Doctor's surgery

There are two doctor's surgeries nearby. One at 1 Forest Hill Road (bus 363 to Forest Hill) and the Wells Park Health Centre, 1 Wells Park Road (bus 352 to Wells Park).

Banks and post offices

Most banks and building societies are situated in Forest Hill and Lewisham. The nearest post offices are at 24 Dartmouth Road, SE23. In addition there are post offices and banks in Crystal Palace which is a short bus ride away.

Library

The nearest public library is in Dartmouth Road, Forest Hill.

Crown Green bowling is available in Ladywell. The Residents' Committee is very active and regularlry organises activities, events and days out.
