Local Land Charges

The Local Land Charges Section provides a service to prospective purchasers or lessees of commercial and residential property in the City of London.

The statutory Local Land Charges Register includes details of planning permissions (from 1977) and other planning charges, conservation areas, scheduled ancient monuments and listed buildings.

In addition, information can be provided about highways, highway proposals, planning policy areas, building control and environmental health matters.

Fees for a local land charge search are:

  • Basic Search (ie official search of Register (form LLC1) and Part 1 enquires of Local Authority (form CON.29) £200
  • Each Part II (optional) enquiry £20
  • Each additional parcel of land £30
  • Each additional enquiry added by solicitor and accepted by the City of London £30
  • Personal Search in the whole or part of the LLC Register £11

Our service

The City of London aims to comply with the DETR / LGA voluntary code of practice and will normally complete standard searches within 10 working days of receiving the application.

A 'standard search' is a search consisting of an 'Official Search of the LLC Register (Form LLC1) and the Part 1 questions of the 'Enquiries of Local Authority' (Form CON.29).

Please note that the stated time limit will only apply if the application is complete with the correct address, fees and plan if requested.

Access status

Extracts are available, in A4 paper format, of the City of London Public Access Map showing the access status of land in the City. The map is provided in the belief that it represents the information at the present available to the City of London but on the distinct understanding that neither the City of London nor any council officer is legally responsible except for negligence.

This service would normally take approximately 20 working days for relatively simple cases, but could take longer when more complicated circumstances exist. Alternatively, plans are available for inspection at these offices during normal working hours.

£25.00 per extract. Contact 020 7332 1710 for more information.
