E-Services from Libraries Online

Enquire Enquire

Enquire is a free live question and answer service available 24 hours a day, every day. It works like instant messaging or a chat session and allows you to put questions to trained library staff who will be pleased to help you.

Discover Discover

Discover offers you a personal and helpful guide through the Internet to a wide range of resources from quick reference website links to information on collections and objects from museums, libraries, archives, national e-Government servces and much more.

Read Read

Helping to bring readers together, Read is a new service that provides access to online resources related to books and reading. It is a “one-stop shop” to good websites about reading and books and provides links to other online services where users can discuss their reading with others.

Online resources for library members

Registered members of our lending libraries can access, from the comfort of their own homes, fascinating online sources such as the Oxford English Dictionary, the Encyclopaedia Britannica Online and the Directory of National Biography.

Access could not be easier, simply click here to view online resources for members, choose a title and enter your library membership number into the appropriate login box. Alternatively, visit one of our lending libraries for more information.

E-audiobooks from One Click Digital

Library members can now download audio books for free. All you need is a computer (PC or Mac) with broadband access and you can download the selected e-audiobook, play it on your PC, or transfer it to your MP3 player, iPod, or even your mobile phone or smartphone.

You can access this service by creating an account for yourself at One Click Digital and entering your membership number (prefixed by CLP).

If you already have an account with EBSCO, please be aware that your account will not automatically migrate to One Click Digital and EBSCO users will have to create a fresh account with One Click Digital when EBSCO ceases to be our e-audio platform. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and are happy to answer any questions you have about the changeover.

Web based language learning

All you need is your borrower number. Go to Transparent Language Online and choose to set up a new user account. Enter your library card number, prefaced by CLP (e.g. CLP12345678) - and then follow the instructions. You will be able to log in to access any of 80 languages, anywhere, at any time. No additional software is required.

Not a member but want to use these services?

All you need is a membership card - either come into one of our City of London lending libraries to join, or complete the online membership form and pick up your card from a library of your choice.
