RYA Powerboat Courses

RIB - RYA

The Denton Training School, as part of the City of London, offers an introduction to Boat Handling and Safety in Powerboats Course Levels 1 & 2, ICC, CEVNI, and Powerboat Level 1 & 2 Refresher Course.

Our Principal Trainer, Tony Russell MBE, has over 40 years boat handling experience. This fun and informative course is held at our Denton Training School on the banks of the River Thames in Kent.

Trainees in white coatsPortal Official Veterinarian Training

The London Port Health Authority Tilbury BIP has been approved by Animal Health as a centre to provide training to meet the requirements of the portal official veterinarian course. Training is arranged on demand and you should contact the Tilbury Port Health Office on 01375 842663 or email us.

Student EHO Training

London Port Health Authority offers free practical training for Student Environmental Health Officers in conjuction with Middlesex University and is aimed at third year students who are taking the food module there. Port Health staff will  present a lecture to students at the college in September on all aspects of Port Health, but focussing mainly on the London situation, to all the third year students. Students that have attended this lecture will be able to apply to visit the London Port Health Authority offices in small groups for practical training during 2007/08.  This practical training will be over two days and students will be taking part in a mixture of practical examinations and desk top exercises within the port setting,  which they will be expected to write up and present for checking. LPHA will issue a certificate of attendance, and write ups may be eligible for presenting as part of their ELP portfolio.

The following list gives areas in which activities and practical training will be undertaken during the three days:

  • Brazillian ChickenImported Food Controls (including Nature, Quality or Labelling Requirements)
  • Products of Animal Origin Controls
  • Identification of food
  • Food Safety on Aircraft and Vessels and
  • Infectious Disease Controls

Dates are available for students to attend courses planned for 2008 and these can be found in the 2008 time table.
