Taxicards
Taxicards provide cheaper taxi travel for people who cannot use
public transport because of a permanent disability.
Taxicard pays an amount towards
a limited number of trips in licensed taxis (black
cabs), so you do not pay the full metered
fare. You will pay a minimum amount and can travel up to
a maximum fare of £11.80. If the journey goes above the
maximum subsidy then you will pay the extra.
Am I eligible for a Taxicard?
You are automatically entitled to a Taxicard if:
- You receive the Higher Rate Mobility Component of the Disabled
Living Allowance.
- You are registered blind.
- You receive a War Pension Mobility Allowance.
If you are not one of these categories you will need to have an
assessment of your mobility.
For more information please contact Social Services or visit the
Taxicard
website.
Dial-a-Ride
Dial-a-Ride is a door-to-door
service for disabled people who cannot use public
transport. It is best for local trips, but longer
journey's can be arranged. You will usually travel with
other passengers going in the same direction.
To use Dial-a-Ride, you must be a member and trips have to be
booked. Fares are based on the length of your journey.
