The City of London attracts around
300,000 daily commuters and in addition there are a large
number of visitors for business and tourism. Most people
travelling to the City are dependent on public transport.
The City needs an efficient transportation system that allows
commuters to get to and from work, couriers and goods vehicles to
make essential deliveries and service vehicles to access premises.
As well as actively promoting public transport, the City of London
seeks to keep traffic flowing by effectively planning and managing
the highway network. Improving safety for all road users, creating
an attractive pedestrian environment and improving air quality are
also key priorities. All these are vital to enhancing the City’s
reputation as the best place to do business.
The City of London's
transport objectives are set out in the City of London
Community Strategy.
