The City of London operates a combination of devolved and
centralised procurement. Departments undertake the majority of the
procurement themselves for goods / services that they require.
Information on some of these departments can be found on this page,
and this list will be expanded in due course.
There is also a range of commonly used items / services that are
procured through contracts set up centrally. These contracts are
maintained by the Strategic Procurement Unit.
The Strategic Procurement Unit
The Strategic Procurement Unit (SPU) is responsible for a
variety of contracts for the supply of goods to City of London
departments, please see below for details of types of good supplied
and range of contract. For all enquiries please
email SPU.

The City of London Police Department
The City of London Police is responsible for the safety of
everyone in London's "Square Mile". The Force is organised into six
command areas; Anti-Terrorism and Public Order, Economic Crime,
Specialist Crime, Corporate Support and two territorial divisions,
based at Snow Hill and Bishopsgate. The latter are responsible for
the day-to-day policing of the City while the other command areas
include fraud investigators, scientific support officers, a dog
section, mounted branch, a firearms unit and professional and
administrative support staff.
The Force has outsourced its catering, cleaning and occupational
health services and adheres to the City of London's contracts and
purchasing directives for items such as furniture, photocopiers,
stationery and consumables.
The Force will shortly be appointing a Procurement and Contracts
Manager who will be the focal point for contact on all purchasing
and procurement issues. Contact details will be updated once
this has been accomplished.
Chamberlains - IS Division
The IS Division are the central provider of Information Systems
services to the City of London. This involves purchasing,
installing and maintaining computers and the networks that connect
them, purchasing or developing IT software and systems and
operating a variety of services for all departments and for
Members. The main telephone system serving the Guildhall and other
central offices is also our responsibility.
The Procurement team is responsible for the procurement service
for all departments within the City of London. At present we
purchase all hardware including Servers, PCs, Printers and
Monitors. Currently we are under a Microsoft Select and Enterprise
Agreement for all Microsoft Operating Systems and Microsoft
Software licences. We also run a storeroom that holds a number of
consumable items in stock including toners and cartridges for
printers, network cables, memory and hard disk drives.
The IS Division procurement can be contacted
by email.
The City Surveyor's Department

building maintenance has now been devolved to departments the City
of London's Surveyor's Department retains overall responsibility
for many of the City of London's
major construction and civil engineering projects.
There is an
approved list for building and civil engineering contractors
and consultants. The City Surveyor, in consultation with the
Chamberlain and the Town Clerk, is responsible for managing the
approved list of contractors and consultants in the following work
categories: Contractors, Consultants and Engineering.
Any queries relating to the operation of the lists should be
addressed to the Contracts Officer, City Surveyor's Department,
City of London, PO Box 270, Guildhall, EC2P 2EJ.
Please either
email
the Contracts Officer or phone 020 7332 3751 for further
