Barbican, Camomile Street and Shoe Lane Libraries offer a wide range of books, DVDs, compact discs and videos for home use and organise a varied range of activities for children. As the largest of the three, Barbican also organises a programme of literary talks and readings for adults as well as popular art, craft and music exhibitions.

Guildhall Library is widely regarded as the best single source in the world regarding the history of London whether in the form of books, prints, maps, photographs, or manuscripts while the City Business Library is one of the major publicly accessible sources of business information in the UK.

Guildhall Art Gallery occupies a magnificent new building in Guildhall Yard and incorporates London's Roman Amphitheatre which was re-opened to the public in June 2002 for the first time in nearly 2000 years. The Gallery is the home of the City of London's Permanent Collection of Works of Art - including some outstanding Pre-Raphaelite works and the studio collection of Sir Matthew Smith - and aims to maintain a continuing historical collection relating to the City of London and the history and topography of London and the City.
