In 2012 London will host the
Olympics – the greatest sporting event in the World - offering
a unique opportunity to showcase the Capital and its many
attributes. Hosting the Olympic and Paralympic Games will
bring benefits to London, particularly through improved
transport infrastructure and regeneration, and should result
in lasting legacies.
The City of London Corporation welcomes and fully supports the
2012 Games and the benefits that they will bring. In partnership
with others, we will work to ensure that the Games are a success.
We have produced a strategy which provides an overarching framework
for the City of London Corporation’s contribution to London 2012,
focusing attention on the key opportunities and benefits of the
Games. This Strategy can be viewed via the link below. It offers
guidance for the development of policies, projects and programmes
with partners at a local, regional, national and international
level which support the delivery and continued legacy of London
2012. There are six strategic aims which are fully aligned with the
outcomes of the City’s Community Strategy, Local Area Agreement and
the City Corporation’s Corporate Plan.

For the City of London Corporation, the diversity of its
functions and services offers numerous opportunities for supporting
the London 2012 vision, whilst at the same time maximising the
benefits for our key stakeholder groups – City businesses,
residents, workers and visitors to the City. There are also
opportunities through the City’s regeneration and partnership
activities to support the City of London’s neighbouring boroughs,
which include some of the UK’s most deprived communities.
