Education at Keats house


Outreach events from November | Booking details

Between late 2007 and autumn 2008 Keats House will be transformed. The house closed on 1 November 2007  for extensive refurbishment. We will reopen in the Autumn term of 2008 with an expanded programme for families and schools, including Art and Design, Science and Citizenship workshops.

During the closure, we will be offering a variety of outreach sessions to schools, covering areas such as Citizenship, Local History, Art and Creative Writing workshops and seminars on Keats’s poetry. We will also be running some sessions in our new Education Room inside Heath Library.

Using Keats and his friend Leigh Hunt as a starting point to explore Romanticism as a means of political protest through the works ofwriters and thinkers of the day.

A citizenship based session which looks at our relationship with other countries and cultures and the history of those connections. It will also link to issues around trade and business.

Exploring personal and community identity through the stories of people from the past and in the present.

Creative writing workshop based on the writing of Keats and other poets. KS 2 / KS 3 Literacy

Study workshop looking in depth at one or two of Keats’s major poems. KS 3 / KS 4 Literacy AS /A2 Literature
