There are a variety of sporting
activities available to people in the City.
London Youth Games
The London Youth Games offer young Londoners the chance to
participate in Europe’s largest youth sporting event. The
importance of the Games in the youth sports calendar makes you
realise how lucky young Londoners are to have such a fantastic
event on their doorstep.
Every year over 30,000 of the best young sports people aged
11-19 years from the 32 London Boroughs and the City of London,
compete in over 30 different sports competitions that comprise the
Games.
Over the past 30 years, the London Youth Games has acted as
a catapult to success for a multitude of young participants,
including sprinters Linford Christie and John Regis, javelin
thrower Steve Backley, high jumper Dalton Grant and footballers
Ashley Cole and Ledley King.
We are now looking for the stars of the future to represent the
City of London. The City Squad consists of those who either reside
in the City, or live on one of the City of London Housing Estates
outside of the borough, or those that attend a City of London
sponsored school. These schools include: the City of London School,
City of London School for Girls, The City of London Academy,
Haberdashers’ Aske’s, City of London Freeman's School and King
Edwards, Whitely.
