Election of the new Lord Mayor of the City of London

Press are invited to photograph the Lord Mayor Elect in the Guildhall Yard from approximately 12.30pm* on Monday 1 October.

The election for the new Lord Mayor of the City of London will take place on Monday 1st October at Guildhall, Gresham Street, London, EC2.

Following the election the new Lord Mayor (who starts office in the Mansion House in November) will be heralded with a trumpet call from the State Trumpeters on leaving Great Hall, accompanied by current Lord Mayor Alderman John Stuttard. Both enter Guildhall Yard for formal pictures (at approximately 12.30pm).

The Lord Mayor Elect does not take office until the Silent Ceremony which is held in Great Hall on Friday 9 November, the day preceding the Lord Mayor’s Show.

The Lord Mayor, as head of the ancient City of London Corporation, has a modern role promoting UK-based financial services globally and spends three months abroad leading business delegations, as well as hosting visiting political leaders and business.
