Guildhall State Banquet in honour of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz al Saud of Saudi Arabia

7.00pm on Wednesday 31 October 2007 at Guildhall, off Gresham Street, London, EC2

On Wednesday 31 October, in the presence of His Royal Highness The Duke of York, the City of London Corporation and the Lord Mayor of the City of London will host a Banquet in honour of King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia.

On his arrival at Guildhall, the King will be greeted by a Royal Salute, given by the Guard of Honour, and the Saudi National Anthem will be played. The King will then be invited to inspect the Guard of Honour.

The Lord Mayor of the City of London, Alderman John Stuttard, will speak after Dinner and the King will reply.

The following media opportunities will be available:

  1. Arrivals on Guildhall Porch - from 7.00pm and inspection of the Guard of Honour
  2. Procession into Dinner in the Great Hall - from 7.50pm 
  3. Speeches after Dinner in the Great Hall - from 9.50pm

To apply:

  • Please submit requests on the application form (below) by 12.00 midday Monday 29 October. Requests will be confirmed by fax or email on Tuesday 30 October. 
  • Due to high demand, spaces for the media are limited and you will therefore be advised whether your application has been successful on Tuesday 30 October.
  • Members of Saudi media organisations should contact the Press Section of the Saudi Embassy on 0207 917 3000.

At the banquet

  • Photographers and reporters attending the event are asked to arrive between 6.30pm and 6.45pm.
  • Members of the media should report to the Main Reception at Guildhall (corner of Gresham Street and Aldermanbury, EC2), where they will be given their security passes.
  • Please ensure that all members of the media are suitably dressed in dark lounge suits or the equivalent for ladies. 
  • Please also ensure that all mobile telephones and pagers are switched off throughout the event (both inside and outside).
