Statement about campsite in the City and St Paul's protesters

Stuart Fraser, the Chairman of the City of London Corporation’s Policy and Resources Committee, said today:

‘’The City will accommodate lawful protest but this should not involve a long-term campsite that blocks the highway.

‘’There are issues about a major place of worship being forced to close - and the significant economic impact the campsite is having on nearby businesses, almost all of which are retail – rather than financial.

‘’We hope common sense will prevail and those camping around the Cathedral will recognise that they are damaging the integrity of their protest by their actions - and they decide to disperse in a peaceful manner.’’
