Guide to parking for disabled people in the City

The main entrance at Silk Street has automatic doors and a
gentle slope ( 1:34 ) to a bridge link to the Ground floor foyer
(level 0) and the main lifts which serve all floors. There are a
number of wheelchair accessible toilets throughout the building and
all facilities are accessible. Wide parking bays for blue badge
holders are available in car parks 3 and 5 and both car parks can
be accessed from Silk Street . There is level sign-posted access
from Car Parks 3 and 5. Hearing assistance facilities are available
in all venues; concert hall, theatres, cinemas. Further information

The City of London has installed dropped kerbs and raised
carriageways to improve access to City streets and most streets are
now wheelchair accessible. However, there are some locations where
this has not been possible either for engineering reasons or
because of redevelopment work.

There is a level main entrance with automatic doors which can be
accessed from the Guildhall Yard or from Aldermanbury/Gresham
Street . All floors are accessible by lift. Wheelchair accessible
toilets are available on each floor. The reception desk has a
hearing loop facility.
There is an accessible route to the Great Hall and platform
lifts to access the Crypts.

The entrance is level from the Guildhall Yard through automatic
doors and there is access to all floors and accessible toilet
facilities by means of a lift.
The Centre is ramped and wheelchair accessible. Facilities are
located adjacent to the entrance hall of the swimming pool. A pool
hoist is available to access the pool. In the swimming pool's
communal changing areas grabrails are provided in the showers and

The Monument has 311 stone steps from street level to the
viewing platform with a handrail on one side. There is no colour
contrast on the step nosings. There is no lift access to the
viewing platform. Parking bays for blue badge holders are available
in Monument Street. A certificate is awarded to people who
successfully climb the 311 steps of the Monument. This is available
in Braille and has a raised tactile picture of the Monument. Tel

The Museum entrance is located on a pedestrian high walk which
can be reached by stairs, escalators or lifts from Aldersgate
Street, London Wall or St Martins-le-Grand. The Museum is fully
accessible. Wheelchairs and powered scooters can be borrowed free
of charge.
Major renovation work is currently being undertaken to improve
access to the Cathedral.

The City of London Visitor Information Centre has temporarily
moved. Until summer 2007, while a brand new and exciting
Information Centre is being built, the staff will be based at St
Paul’s Cathedral Crypt Shop and the Museum of London.

There is also a London tourist Board Tourist and Travel Centre
in Liverpool Street Station which is at concourse level.
As well as panoramic views across London, Tower Bridge has an
exhibition which brings the story of Tower Bridge to life. The main
entrance on Tower Bridge is level. 40-person lifts provide access
to all floors of the exhibition. Facilities are located in the
South Tower and Engine Rooms. Parking is prohibited on the
bridge.
An infra-red system is available which transmits information
about the Bridge to users carrying a hand held receiver. Although
this is not an induction loop system the volume and language of the
transmission can be altered to suit individual user requirements.
