Setting up and running your business
One of our most useful sources is the COBRA, Complete Business Reference Adviser, also available in printed format. This is a collection of over 300 guidelines on how to set up different kinds of businesses, anything from an air conditioning engineer to a speciality cake maker. COBRA is now adding many ethical, Fairtrade and sustainable enterprises, for example, ethical holiday organiser, organic food retailer and farm shops. COBRA also has a set of factsheets designed to help you run your business. These include writing a business plan, legal considerations, financial issues and human resources. This source has the added advantage of being available on your desktop through the City of London website for library members.
