Advice and training

The remit of the health and safety team includes the provision of free advice to individuals and organisations on their duties.

We are happy to answer any questions you may have and can discuss coming to your workplace to talk to you or colleagues on any health and safety subject.  You may contact us via email at publicprotection@cityoflondon.gov.uk.

We are able to signpost you to a variety of health & safety information sources, many of which are available as free downloads from the Health and Safety Executive’s website.

We have also had involvement in issues which relate specifically to the unique risk profiles present in the Square Mile.  This has led to the production of specific guidance and advice such as information concerning the dutyholders in shared premises where there are several parties involved in managing the risk. The guidance document was removed from this website in 2014 following its use in forming the relevant section in the 2014 HSE document- HSG274 Part 2 (1.93MB).

The team are also available to give talks and presentations to a range of interest groups both locally and nationally in order to promote health & safety in the 'Square Mile' and the work of the City of London Corporation generally.

We are also currently able to assist in helping organisations achieve accreditation in the London Healthy Workplaces Charter.  Further details regarding the Charter and our involvement are available on our London healthy workplace charter page.

Formal health and safety training is not provided by the team. However a number of professional institutes and bodies exist that provide and endorse health and safety training nationally and links are provided below to their websites.
