Introduction

The City of London produces two different electoral registers - the Register of Electors and the Ward Lists. Residents can register to vote on both, and organisations can register on the Ward Lists only.

The Ward Lists are lists of resident and business electors in the City of London. There is a Ward List for each of the City’s 25 Wards. These lists are used for elections of Aldermen and Common Councilmen.

To vote in the Common Council elections in March 2009 you need to have registered during the canvass period. Registration has now closed and the final Ward Lists will be published on 12 January 2009 and will be used for elections from 16 February 2009 to 15 February 2010. Once it is published we cannot make amendments, including adding or removing people, until the next publication the following year.

To check if you are registered, please contact the Electoral Services Office.

If you are not registered, but would like to register for the Ward Lists 2010/11, please contact the Electoral Services Office.

The Register of Electors is a list of names of all residents who are registered to vote in UK and European Parliamentary and Greater London Authority (GLA) elections. Each local authority area publishes its own Register of Electors on 1 December each year and revises the Register on a monthly basis between January and September. To check if you are registered, or to add your name to the Register, please contact the Electoral Services Office. Alternatively registration forms can be downloaded from www.aboutmyvote.com.
