Children and families team

We are a statutory service that offers a wide range of specialist services from safeguarding to family support.

Due to the small number of residents living in the City we have one team who is responsible for all our social care services for children.

Our main responsibility and aim is to support and safeguard the City of London’s most vulnerable children and young people.

The services we provide include:

  • looked after children
  • early intervention and family support
  • short breaks
  • adoption
  • fostering
  • private fostering
  • care Leavers

We also have a duty service which provides social care duty cover from 5pm - 9am during the working week. The duty service takes referrals from anyone who has concerns about a child who you think may be at risk of harm. The duty social worker is also available to offer advice and support on child protection issues or any other concerns relating to a child or young person.

Our emergency duty service is provided by the London Borough of Hackney and it operates from 5pm - 9am every week day, and is also open 24 hours over the weekend on bank holidays.
