Portsoken Health Centre and Green Box Community Centre

This Centre on the Aldgate East Estate (also known as Mansell Street Estate) is in the East part of the City of London and is set-up within the modern and purpose built interior of two ship containers.
Part of the upper level is run by City Wellbeing Practice as a health centre and the lower level is used as a community centre run by Toynbee Hall
The community centre runs regular group workshops and activities. Toynbee Hall works with local residents and partners to develop the offer further and create new volunteering opportunities for local people in the ward who want to contribute to this thriving centre. You can earn and spend Time Credits at the centre. Earn Time Credits by getting involved at the centre, running activities, helping to manage the centre or working alongside providers to run activities. It has wireless internet connection and disabled access.

The health centre is run by City Wellbeing Practice which provides services including Child Health, Foot Clinic, Smoking Cessation, Family Planning and Sexual Health, and a Diabetes Clinic. Community Health Engagement Project
Do you want to improve your health? Maybe you would like to be more active, eat more healthily, quit smoking or drink less, but you’re not sure where to start? The Community Health Engagement Worker can help you make a real difference to your health and wellbeing. The project offers a holistic way of thinking about your health and wellbeing, and can link you into a wide range of opportunities in your local area.
The Community Health Engagement Worker works with City of London residents to promote health and wellbeing, focusing on the needs of family members of various age groups. We work in partnership with Portsoken Health and Community Centre, Health Trainers and Therapists (Shoreditch Spa), tenants’ and residents’ associations, and other community based organisations.
The Project organise the following activities :
Health awareness and lifestyles sessions.
How to help your children say healthy
Information on City services and how to access them.
Keep fit classes, walking group, day trips, healthy cooking classes, parenting skills classes.
Local community events such as the recent Family Health Festival on Mansell Street Estate.
How to have your say in what happens in your local area and in planning your local services.
