Safeguarding children

Safeguarding children means protecting them from physical, emotional or sexual harm or neglect. If you know or suspect a child or young person is being harmed there are two things you can do:

You suspect a child or young person is being harmed

If you suspect that a child or young person in the City is being abused or neglected, it is vital you report your concerns on 020 7332 3621 so that we can investigate. We will make enquiries and find out about the child’s safety and welfare. We will try to work in partnership with parents and carers and keep them involved in what is happening.

A child or young person is in immediate danger

Don’t hesitate - call the police immediately on 999.
